Fightin' Tomorrow

So, tomorrow is the Rio Open.  Azul adulto masculino medio (adult blue belt middleweight men) are fighting Thursday at 10:20.  We're one of the first divisions, which is great, because I can get it out of the way.  In the even that I medal I have the option of entering the absolute division, but that is at like 6pm the next day.  I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it though.

I've been spending the last few days making sure I make weight for the tournament.  I need to be 82.3kg with my gi on.  I've been eating well but healthily since I got here and over the last few days I've been cutting food and water in order to lose a few more pounds.  I was 81.1kg with my gi on today, which is perfect, allows me to eat, and accounts for any scale craziness.  Without the gi I was 78.2kg.

My friends and family may realize that this is a considerable accomplishment for me.  For those who're reading and have no clue...well...I used to be quite the big guy.

See?  Told ya.  I don't have an exact number, but back when I graduated high school (2004) I was somewhere between 300lbs and 310lbs (136kg and 140kg).  So, at 78.2kg (172lbs), I think I'm done.  Now I can just eat normal and work out and not be so super serious about all this crap.  I see all you can eat pizza/meat/sushi in my near future.  Also beer.
